FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A VINTAGE BIKE?

The definition generally shared by all organizers of such events is as follows:

  1. Bike manufactured before 1987, steel or other alloy frame (carbon not accepted), with gear change system on the frame, cables passing outside the frame, classic brake system by pads (no disc brakes), classic flat pedals with or without toe clamp and strap (no self-fixing pedals).

  2. Historic-inspired bike: frame in steel or other alloy (carbon not accepted) including original or vintage-inspired components.

For the outfit, all participants are strongly encouraged to wear vintage cycling clothing, such as wool jerseys, bib shorts with "chamois skin", helmets with leather straps, matching caps.

Participants using a bike other than a racing bike (ie hiker, tandem, carrier) will adopt a sober and chic vintage look.

Modern cycling clothing made from technical fabrics (ie lycra) is strongly discouraged.
